Meet Julz!

Who I Help

I love working with folks struggling with concerns related to being part of the LGBTQIA+ community, including gender identity and sexuality. I also love working with those struggling with addiction/problematic compulsions, anxiety, childhood trauma/abuse, interpersonal violence (IPV) and sexual assault, intergenerational trauma, and self-esteem.

What Can you Expect?

I grew up with an LGBTQIA+ parent, which has given me the opportunity to learn what it means to have lifelong acceptance of every person, regardless of their sexuality or personal life. There are also plenty of struggles you experience along the way, and I am very aware and conscious of how those struggles can get in the way of participating in life the way that you truly want to. I'd like to help you understand that you deserve to do what makes you happy, in spite of adversity!

I cherish relationships the most out of any element of the human experience. Building a support system around you is crucial.

This includes the relationship you have with yourself.

I practice sensitivity and allow space for you to share your experience in a judgment-free zone. I focus on helping you build confidence, self-esteem, and a sense of autonomy, especially if you have experienced trauma.

I am somewhat confrontational (not in a scary way!) so that I may point out what I am noticing in the present moment. I believe I am a strong active listener and do not give advice, but instead, help you to find the answer from within.  I'm also not afraid to use humor in session when appropriate!

My theoretical alignments are focused on feminism. I'd like to contribute to a strong future generation by challenging societal norms, and I'm passionate about gender fluidity.

When I'm not at Open Space CCW, you may also find me...

On mental health walks, slowly but surely improving my bowling score, or at the thrift or an estate sale.
