Who I Help
When we are running low on time, energy, and emotional capacity, we benefit from some support. Taking time to organize one's efforts and access additional resources can expedite growth, ease tension, and relieve distress. Drawing from both lived experience and professional experience, my goal is to help you move from merely surviving to truly thriving and step into your authenticity with confidence, contentment, and peace.
I specialize in working with the LGBTQIA+ community, including both gender identity and sexual identity. I also specialize in concerns related to trauma and PTSD, anxiety, depression, and bipolar disorder. I am a LGBTQIA+, relationship, and culturally affirming clinician, including various relationship types (i.e. CNM, open relationships, poly relationships).
When working with people from minoritized groups, I seek to explore how minority stress, oppression, and collective trauma contribute to symptoms of mental illness. Beyond the therapy room, we seek to advocate on behalf of others to promote healthier and safer systems for all, as well as reduce barriers to care.
Wisdom comes from balance and a blend of perspectives. I am invigorated by the livelihood and stories of others, our eclectic and intersecting experiences. Passions for learning, creating connections, and restoring others’ resources when they are run down have guided much of my actions to this point in my life; I find it very meaningful that I get to apply these strengths in the promotion of equity, health, happiness.
What Can you Expect?
I enjoy creating a highly affirming and validating environment, a safe space where we are able to balance logical problem-solving, humor and positivity, and deep emotional processing. Most of my clients will receive education and training in mindfulness skills, relaxation practices, decision-making, and interpersonal effectiveness. I like to get creative and collaborate on how psychological principles can be applied to enhance the unique lives of individuals I work with.
I’m highly organized and I enjoy creating clear goals together with clients, and then making intentional progress toward those goals. As a practitioner trained in a wide variety of counseling styles and tools, I value being adaptive to what is going to feel right and function effectively for each individual. My personal background has enhanced my ability to be more accepting and celebratory of individual characteristics, to reduce judgments, and to think outside the box.
“It is revolutionary for any Trans person to choose to be seen and visible in a world that tells us we should not exist.” – Laverne Cox
